Standing Out In A Crowd Of Games

You may ask, why should I play your game when there are so many other games out there?

With the current state of the game it certainly feels like it is heavily similar to a game like Minecraft and you know there are tons of Minecraft inspired games out there so how can my game stand out?

Mosaic Odyssey is going to be a lot more than just Minecraft or even the scope of Hytale. Mosaic Odyssey will allow you to create an empire and give you a reason to build creations. Regular mode will be an infinite RPG and Empire builder. Sandbox mode will be a way for anyone to create any type of game they would like to share with the community by hosting their creations through servers.

On one end you have a mode where you can create empires and explore and level up forever. On the other you have almost a game engine within a game that is being built in a game engine.

See the issue I see with most of the other games being made similar to mine is that they limit their scope or make the game too similar to Minecraft.

If you make a game too similar without any other benefits people are going to play Minecraft. Mosaic Odyssey isn't just Minecraft. It's a lot more than just Minecraft. As the game continues to be developed everyone will see just what this game will become.

Game design is important and I find it to be something that people often miss or don't focus too much. I want my game to be designed properly and also be unique. Will this game take a long time to develop? Absolutely but that is most games.

Will I try to make the code base well designed and focus heavily on performance and bug fixes? Yes. All of these are incredibly important.

As I've become accustomed to how Godot does things I'm now thinking about better ways to architect and refactor my game code. Sometime this month I'll be doing massive refactoring and architecture changes. The code base is fine as it is but it can be better organized and improved.

We want to focus on sustainability as I try to make this game bigger. Having good architecture is going to make my life 50 times easier when adding content and will speed up development time.

Mosaic Odyssey does take a lot of inspiration from Minecraft mods too. While I've worked on it for 3 weeks now and focusing more on marketing for the next few days I've done a lot already.

That being said we have a long way to go and I'm excited to see what progress I've made by the end of September. Soon people should start being introduced to the game with my marketing efforts. They may not visit this website but they will be aware of the game project.

The thing with procedural game design which a lot of my game has is that you often end up with empty content. I'm going to avoid this as much as possible in my game and provide tons of interactions and strong reasoning as to why each addition exists. I do not want to add additions that do not fufill some kind of purpose or multiple purposes. I want the game to feel alive and connected. Things that happen have effects on other parts of the game.
