Another day, another daily devlog. I was feeling burned out last night and also today. I have done some work. Proper collisions to the terrain and the first-person character movement and the camera is working properly.
I have worked on the UI a little bit and started to work on the graphical settings UI. I plan to work a lot on the building UI, environment UI in the sandbox, main menu UI, graphical settings UI, and color picker UI. I will soon start working on the building system itself where you will be able to build things in the game now. I will eventually have to add a save and load UI and the save and load functionality.
I have some other obligations today and I've already spent a lot of time not doing much. I've been working on this game a huge amount for over 10 days now so you can guess that I need a break.
I think today will be that break and then I'll get back to work tomorrow. I may work some more today but we will have to see. I just don't quite have it in me today.
I'm excited to see what kind of progress I'll have by the end of this week and I plan on releasing another version of the game this week.
I fixed a bug that was causing massive valleys and canyons. They looked super cool kinda but not practical. There are still valleys and canyons just nowhere near as big.
I also want to add sloped bricks soon, so I have a lot to do this week. I'm hoping to knock out a ton of work, and by the end of this week, I may have something playable that isn't you roaming around the terrain.
By the end of next week, I should have enough done to start sharing the game with people and spreading the word about it. I'll work on slopes, the block texture, and the lighting to make sure the game looks good.
Once the game looks good and you can build stuff, paint stuff, delete stuff, and the save/load system I could start making posts on different social media platforms to promote the game.
I expect to have that ready by the end of this month. This week, I'll work on the UI and the building system. Next week, I should have everything done to make it presentable. That means the last week of September will be promotion time! I'll promote it, share the demo version on social media platforms, and allow people to try out the demo build.
