Friday, August 30th Devlog

I could not achieve much today although that seems like most days. This time I added the day and night cycle again. I tried to make it better and work perfectly. That being said the math was what took me so long. The linear interpolation with the sky colors and understanding of the sun's rotation.


Besides that I did mess around with the lighting slightly but the day and night cycle messes with the lighting a bit. I will eventually figure things out on the lighting side of things but I'm not sure how perfect I can get it. Apparently, Godot isn't the best at handling lighting for big meshes and worlds.


Hopefully in the next release after V08 I will have much better lighting.


I plan on doing the sandbox mode next and try to get that done. That will include building, destroying, and more! Eventually, I'll make it multiplayer.


For now all you can do is just fly around the procedural terrain generation.


Make sure to take a look at the downloads from time to time. I'll have lots of them! You can see the progress I make every few days or so.


Mountains in V08 have holes in them, I haven't created the code yet to fix that issue but I plan on doing it soon.


Here are some photos from the game today. Enjoy! Tomorrow I want to try to fix the gap with the mountains bug and also work on a main menu and the beginnings of the sandbox mode!
