This week I want to focus more on the style of the game and the art direction of it. I also have a few bugs to fix which I'll fix too.
There are a few design choices I'll need to make. Smooth blocks or beveled blocks? Lego-like blocks or model-like blocks? Realistic texture, lego-like block texture, pixel art texture, or no texture?
I've started to explore these a little bit but I haven't been able to quite form an opinion yet. I'm thinking what I could do is test each style to see which one I like the best. It will take a while probably maybe a few days and I'll need to fix a particular bug with the misclassification of block types which mess up the save and load system. I know what the issue is kinda I just need to figure out what is causing it exactly.
I'll keep you all updated as time goes on. Here are some random screenshots I took in Blender.
Both of these blocks are beveled slightly and not smooth except for the slope. The slope block has to be smooth otherwise it causes gaps because of the top bevel. I could find a work around for this though.
